Summary of the role

Excellent position for a Senior Front-end Developer on the Web department of a hospitality leading company.

We have a large number of customers, from single property hotels to large hospitality groups using a hospitality-specific web CMS and we are looking for a motivated person to join our growing development team.

You will report to the Web Operations and Development Manager and your main responsibility will be to build and develop new product features as well as maintain and give support to our internal operations teams and customers.

You will be part of a multidisciplinary, young and dynamic development team, who are continuously learning.

The development teams follow agile methodologies and uses the best practices and tools for web development. You will also benefit from having a flexible schedule.

In this role you’ll / Your main responsibilities

  • Develop high quality and efficient websites with integrated Content Management System, ensuring strong optimization and functionality
  • Introduce new cutting-edge front-end functionality to our websites, and keep up with the latest web and front-end related technologies
  • Extend existing functionality, maintain existing codebase and help put in place and document best practices and procedures for front-end development
  • Manage Domain DNS and hosting issues
  • Proactively report to management about your work
  • Document your development work, both in the code and in our internal documentation
  • Follow our testing and QA process to help ensure client satisfaction
  • Collaborate with team members, Product Owner, and other teams to help implement solutions within an Agile/Scrum framework
  • Manage & implement requested changes or new features with optimal quality and with respect for the timeframes you commit to
  • Develop an understanding of our website products, CMS, and use that to create robust, efficient and widely-compatible code
  • Research and Solve problems that arise
  • Collaborate with other departments regularly, including offshore teams
  • Perform daily scrums & routine code reviews

About the ideal candidate

  • Higher Degree Training Cycle - Computer Science
  • 4+ years’ experience as a Front-end Developer
  • Experience working with several CMSs
  • Portfolio of work with a good collection of live web projects to review
  • Cross Browser markup with a thorough understanding of browser bugs and incompatibilities
  • Experience of version control systems such as GIT
  • Experience at troubleshooting customer issues with a proactive approach to responding to problems
  • A disciplined attitude towards code stability and documentation
  • The ability to collaborate actively in an agile, multi-disciplinary and multi-cultural team
  • Web business, hospitality. eCommerce is a plus
  • Fluent in English

Technical Skills:

  • RainTPL or other similar PHP template engine
  • OOP
  • GIT version control
  • basic knowledge of OS administration based on UNIX
  • High JavaScript programming using jQuery or VanillaJS
  • Strong knowledge of HTML5, CSS3, LESS/SASS
  • Web standards (W3C)
  • Accessibility (ADA/WCAG)
  • Bootstrap
  • Cross-browsing
  • Responsive
  • Web optimization (Core Vitals)
  • Valuable:
    • SEO positioning
    • MVC pattern
    • Webpack/Compass
    • Vue.js
    • Work experience with agile methodologies (Scrum, Kanban, Lean, ...)
    • “Left to right” and “right to left” layouts
